Charlene Bowden

Mrs. Charlene Bowden was the third of seven children born to the late J. P. and Excell-James Lawson, located in Atlanta, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from high school with honors and scholarships and used them to matriculate and receive a BA degree in 1971. She met and married the love of her life soon after she graduated. Charlene taught school in Texas and Tennessee.
When her husband joined the military, they relocated to Denver, Colorado. In addition to raising their children, managing their household, and working part-time, she has also been involved with different non-profit organizations over the last 30 years. Charlene, who has a heart for service, has worked with the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Auxiliary of the National Dental Association, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Ethnic College Counseling Center, Inc. (ECCC), New Hope Baptist Church, and the Democratic National Committee. Her focus has always been a commitment to her faith, family, and friends. She is a true believer in making sure her family meets at all annual celebrations.
Mrs. Bowden and her husband, Clyde recently relocated back to Texas to be close to family. At the present, she plans to continue her free time with non-profit organizations, reading, traveling and walking. Charlene and her husband, Clyde have two daughters, Toni and Phyllis who are currently active duty Navy and Army, respectively. They are very proud of their service to our country.
